Rankin/Bass' Bumble

One of my favorite Rankin/Bass Monsters is their bouncing, toothless Bumble (Abominable Snowmonster) created by Romeo Muller and designed by Antony Peters for Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 🎄 I have written quite a bit about him and in fact, working on something tonight ❄️ #Romeomullerestate #Antonypetersestate #Rankinbassproductionsofficial

I have been talking a lot about the creators of all the characters in Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on the radio and at my appearances lately! In fact, one interview will air today on WJQZ in Wellsville New York at 8:45 AM and another in Rockford Illinois this week on WKCL 96.7 FM

Antony Peters was a very close friend of mine and designed all of the characters as we know them in Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer including the lettering style used in the credits!  He started very early with Rankin/Bass as their original designer/Artist in the 1950s.  He worked on all of their commercials and developed The New Adventures of Pinocchio and later The Tales of the Wizard of Oz.  He even went to Canada to oversee the animation at Crawley studios for Oz.  He developed their feature film, Willy McBean & His Magic Machine and then designed all of the characters in Rudolph such as Hermey the Dentist, Yukon Cornelius, The Bumble, The Island of Misfit toys, etc.
Romeo Muller, Jr., seen here behind the great Sid Caesar, whom Romeo wrote for, created all of the characters in Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer TV Special including Clarice, The Misfit Doll, Sam the Snowman (Who he based on Nicely Nicely from Guys & Dolls), the foreman elf, etc.   Romeo is the reason we are still talking about Rudolph on it's 55th Anniversary!  I recently did an interview for Smithsonian Magazine about all of this, that will be out before Christmas!

We're A Couple of Misfits came on as I walked up to these Romeo Muller/Antony Peters characters!

I visited Romeo Muller and Antony Peter's creations from Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer today! The new figures were made by Kate Stransky! Awesome job! 🎅👍🦌www.miserbros.com #rankinbassproductions #theislandofmisfittoys #rudolphtherednosedreindeer — in Chicago, Illinois.

As I stated before, Romeo Muller based most of the characters from Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer off of his friends and family!  He added all of the characters we know and love from the TV Special version of the story, as Stan Lee did for Marvel Comics.   Antony Peters designed all of the Rankin/Bass Characters from the 1950s through 1966.  It was his designs we see in Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, as he was the Jack Kirby in the Rankin/Bass Universe!
Kate Stransky did a wonderful job with these new renditions!

We went to Michael Jordan's Steak House for lunch before my WGN Radio appearance!  Always great!

55 years for Roemo Muller and Tony Peter's creations this Friday and I believe Freeform is showing then. Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

 C. 2019 Peter Lutrario
Santa and Rudolph got to watch themselves on CBS again last night!   Unfortunately, CBS is still showing a badly edited version we talk about every single year.  The Blu Ray/DVD is also a mess!   Santa and Rudolph were restored in 2006, but the actual Rankin/Bass special is still waiting for a proper restoral.  Thanks to my friend Peter for sending the pictures.

My sister took my niece and nephew to Sea World today to actually meet some of the creations of Romeo Muller and Antony Peters, under the direction of Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass.  Clarice was actually named after one of Romeo's closest friends.  I am so glad I keep in touch with both families to keep in the loop.

Merchandise based on the Muller/Peters creations from Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as far as the eye can see!  My sister said it is all over the place.

Someone just sent me this program after they noticed that the actual creators of the classic 55 year old TV Special's names were nowhere to be found, even though it is the exact same story written by Romeo Muller and the exact same Antony Peters character designs.  No mention of the Producers Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass either.  There never would have been a TV Special, if not for them.
