Two GREAT BLU RAY discs on sale at BEST BUY right now for $9.99!
I am glad I never bought this on DVD! It is loaded with extras including Glorious Technicolor: Celebrating the revered Color filmmaking process and the classic cartoons: Rabbit Hood and Robin Hood Daffy. I watched this film tonight and it looks GREAT! Both films have the same theme: Greed is the root of all evil! We all know this to be true with our current recession as a result.

I have been listening to my JAN & DEAN collection after watching THE T.A.M.I. show! Was just reading that Jan's terrible accident took place on Dead man's curve April 19, 1966. I also didn't realize they cut their BATMAN single the day after the TV pilot aired January 12th, 1966. They had to go back into the studio and re-record most of it because the rights owners didn't want them using the names BATMAN and ROBIN on the tracks.
SHOUT FACTORY has issued this very cool film on DVD! It is said to be one of THE best concert films ever made and I agree! Not a bad performance in the bunch and a great mix of the British invasion with some of the best of the US talent. The film was shot on October 28th and 29th, 1964 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. THE BEACH BOYS segment was cut from the film for years and is now restored! It includes performances from THE BEACH BOYS, CHUCK BERRY, JAMES BROWN & THE FLAMES, THE BARBARIANS, MARVIN GAYE, GERRY AND THE PACEMAKERS, LESLEY GORE, JAN & DEAN, BILLY J. KRAMER AND THE DAKOTAS, SMOKEY ROBINSON & THE MIRACLES, THE SUPREMES and THE ROLLING STONES! 7 of these acts are in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME already...
The first 10 minutes of this film are my favorites! They don't make films like this anymore. I remember watching this on FAMILY CLASSICS with Frazier Thomas. I also watched FRED STAIRE in RANKIN/BASS' THE EASTER BUNNY IS COMIN' TO TOWN tonight and forgot how well that special captured the holiday! I watched THE FIRST EASTER RABBIT too....all the R/B Easter specials are GREAT! I watched Judy earlier in THE WIZARD OF OZ...This great film brought two great stars together somewhere inbetween OZ and THE EASTER BUNNY IS COMIN' TO TOWN :)

We watched this film last night! You can get a beautiful wide-screen version of it at SAM'S CLUB for $4.99! I always liked this film because, it attempted to put Elvis back into a role that required a dramatic performance, like his best in KING CREOLE. It was also a complex film with the main character taking many different roles with different women. Alan Napier (Alfred from TV's BATMAN) has a really cool guest starring role too!
