PETER W. PAGE
Although Ralph Friedman is credited as an "audio engineer", he did not work directly on the project in any such capacity. Ralph owned Magno Sound, the post-production studio in NYC where a lot of the post work, including sound mixing, was done. The sound mixing (aka "re-recording") was actually done by my father, Peter W. Page. (whom you will see credited on some of the other Rankin Bass films, such as "The Mad Monster Party" and "The Daydreamer". Since the pre-credits were done in advance of the production, as were the end credits with the elf and packages, Ralph was given credit because his facilities were booked for the the production. I learned this just prior to my McHenry County Historical Society appearance :) You learn something everyday in the Enchanted World of Rankin/Bass :)

Just heard from Bill Giles, the Sound Engineer in Canada on RANKIN/BASS' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Just heard from my friend Bill Giles, the sound engineer on Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in Canada at RCA Recording and where I learned all about the sessions for the classic TV special!
Hi: Rick;
Saw you being interviewed on CBS. Great comments. Who would have thought that Rudolf would celebrate 50 years of viewing and receive such excellent ratings. People that I have talk to say that it wouldn’t be Christmas without watching Rudolf. Think of all the families that grew up with Rudolf. It certainly was a honor working on this Christmas special. I hope Arthur was aware of the special 50th anniversary commemorative US stamps issued by the Post office, before he passed away. I now winter in Hudson Florida, so I receive comments from both US. and Canadian viewers.
Bye for now. Bill Giles

RADIO INTERVIEWS
I have been doing so many radio interviews on a daily basis, I can hardly post the information before they air...several a day. Did a great one this morning for 45 minutes with Mike Thomas on KWRE in MO. He said he is still getting calls :) We had one caller who saw the Animagic cast of the Rudolph characters at NBC in the late 1960's (I have a few friends that remember that as well). I
had several requests this morning all over the country and in Canada (Doing one with Glenn Pellieter tomorrow at 12:05 pm in Canada). I will be on WGN RADIO again today at 4:30 pm on The Bill Leff & Wendy Snyder show, which you can stream live here www.wgnradio.com I have been on Bill's show several times and I am speaking at the McHenry County Historical Society tomorrow night at 7 PM in Union, IL. They have a huge display of RARE Rudolph items there from my friend Dave Harms. Come out and meet me there!
