June Foray Donovan R.I.P.

Sorry to hear my dear friend June Foray Donovan passed away at 99!  She was so nice and recorded many voice mail messages for me (one has been on my voice mail for years) and SUPER talented!  She lived a long life and I am happy for that!  She popped up in an episode of It's About Time, dubbing Grandmother Krek's voice (Imogene Coca).  We would always talk about stuff like that and I sent her many things that the studios did not. R.I.P.  #juneforay

RANKIN/BASS' THE MOUSE ON THE MAYFLOWER

Rankin/Bass' classic Thanksgiving special appeared on WFLD Ch. 32 in Chicago in the past.   A wonderful Bass/Laws soundtrack too!  My pal June Foray appeared for the first time in a Rankin/Bass TV Special with her pal Paul Frees.  They also appeared together in The Little Drummer Boy that same year, 1968.  You may know them better as Boris and Natasha.

THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

I started watching THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. from the beginning, in order and tonight I decided to research and find the episode that features two of the IDEAL ROBOT COMMANDOS bombing Illya, BUT no one had the title of the episode listed on the internet (referring to the IDEAL toys).  Ironically, it came up in the very next episode, as I was watching in order and it is in THE DOUBLE AFFAIR (first season 1964).  Illya says, "someone is sending their Christmas presents early."    Ironically, I talked to June Foray tonight.  June was the original voice that would say "Our man from U.N.C.L.E. will return after these messages."  Several years ago, June recorded some voice messages for me saying the same for me :)  I love the SOLO pilot too (shot in color)!

In the first season, the U.N.C.L.E. communicator was not the pen that is in the later episodes BUT a handheld walkie talkie type that is pictured on the comic book cover above.

JUNE FORAY DONOVAN

Just got a call from my dear friend June Foray Donovan and she was very complimentary of the NEW book!  She said she could barely lift it :)  She was at the ACADEMY AWARDS show the other night and has been on the board and going to the event since the mid-1970s.  She did voices for RANKIN/BASS' THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY, MOUSE ON THE MAYFLOWER and FROSTY THE SNOWMAN.  She originally did the voice of KAREN for FROSTY and appears on the soundtrack CD AS Karen.
