Rankin/Bass' 'Twas the night before Christmas designed by Paul Coker, jr.

Paul Coker, Jr.'s original designs for Rankin/Bass' The Leprechaun's Christmas gold. I just watched it, so decided to dig out. #stpatricksday #holiday #paulcokerjr #rankinbass #theleprechaunschristmasgold C. 2012 Miser Bros Press/Rick Goldschmidt Archives

I always enjoy watching The Reluctant Dragon and Mr. Toad show on the dvds we have! We included a bit on them in our new Frosty book!

Happy Rankin/Bass 4th!

MAD Magazine shut down for me a very long time ago......

I loved MAD when artists such as Jack Davis, Paul Coker, Jr., Wally Wood, Jack Rickard, Norman Mingo, Bob Clarke, etc.  Were filling pages of the magazine with exceptional art!   Jack Davis told me he decided to stop working for the magazine, when it became "Too Raunchy."   Paul Coker, Jr. recently retired from the magazine when it moved from New York.   My friend Tom Richmond is a great artist too!    If you ask me, the magazine brought this on themselves, when it switched to being a one-sided Political thing.   That was never what MAD was about.

A Reluctant Dragon drawing I did and sold today. Have you ever seen the Rankin/Bass series? It is a wonderful representation of Paul Coker Jr.'s art!

Excerpt from COLLECTOR'S CALL

An original art wall of mine, that we shot a segment for Collector's Call call, but didn't make the final episode. The Rankin/Bass cel third from left in the white frame from Festival of Family classics, did make the series logo on the 2nd floor of the doll house. I have a story for each one of these pieces of art. The Jack Davis painting of Arthur Rankin, was Jack's very last painting. #metv #art #rickgoldschmidtcollection #saturday #lisawhelchel

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Paul Coker, Jr.

I just had a nice long chat with Paul Coker, Jr. (Designer of most of the Rankin/Bass TV Specials). I was a bit worried about him, as his phone was out of service for a while (What a relief!). I had to let him know about several projects and he told me he absolutely loved our last book and is looking forward to the new one. #paulcokerjr #rankinbass #madmagazine

This guy is really going at it outside, as I write about him inside! #jackfrost #frostyswinterwonderland
