Ducky

 

This is the only mass produced item by Wah Ming Chang's CENTAUR PRODUCTIONS.   Centaur produced the Christmas classics The Three Little Dwarves:  Hardrock, Coco and Joe and Suzy Snowflake in stop motion Animation!   Wah worked with George Pal on his films, Designed Shrimpenstein, Designed the Star Trek devices for the original show and did so much more!

My good pal Joel Rasmussen picked up DUCKY for me!   He knew I was a big fan of CENTAUR PRODUCTIONS!  They actually Produced DUCKY in 1953, around the same time they did the animation for SUZY SNOWFLAKE and THE THREE LITTLE DWARVES:  HARDROCK, COCO and JOE!  I grew up on these animated shorts in Chicago and Christmas would not be Christmas, without them!

I found my cassette tape, I had made at BEVERLY RECORDS over twenty years ago, with the LES TUCKER SINGERS 45 rpm of HARDROCK, COCO and JOE. I have the 45 of SUZY SNOWFLAKE (Which was also on the cassette). I am adding both of those songs to my CHICAGO KID'S CD. I remember when Frazier Thomas would show these 45s on GARFIELD GOOSE & FRIENDS (After showing the CENTAUR cartoons) and I believe WALGREENS carried them.

One of my cards....

I was looking all over the place for one of these and one popped up today...My Christmas card from 1990, on high glossy paper of THE THREE LITTLE DWARVES. I began my work as the editorial cartoonist at THE REPORTER newspapers and I was using DUO SHADE BOARD and thought it would lend itself well to Hardrock, Coco and Joe :)
