It's been a very busy Saturday in the Enchanted world of Rankin/Bass! Thank you for all of the orders at www.miserbros.com. I sent off our 2021 Christmas card to the printer today. Rankin/Bass fan Alec Foisy asked me about my favorite Rankin/Bass character from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer...the Bumble. He asked who did the roars and maniacal laugh? I decided to go straight to the source for Christmas in July, and get ahold of my Canadian/Floridian pal Bill Giles. Bill was the sound engineer on Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in 1964 (for more on Bill, see my RetroFan magazine article in issue # 12). Bill recorded all of the Rudolph actors at RCA Victor studios. "The Bumble Roars and laugh were done by Larry D. Mann. He was our go to guy and the most versatile of all the voice actors." Larry was the voice of Yukon Cornelius, the prospector of the North and the original voice of Sam the Snowman, before Burl Ives was added to the cast. #rankinbassproductions #rudolphtherednosedreindeer #bumble #theabominablesnowmonster
