I said I would have some big news and am announcing it Exclusively here! My friend SHAG is releasing a 50th Anniversary print of Rankin/Bass' Mad Monster Party! It will be released October 14th at his West Hollywood store and I will be appearing there with him, and signing books, etc. Exact times will follow shortly. Then we are following that appearance with another appearance the following week on October 20th (date subject to change) at his Palm Springs store. I asked Len Korobkin (Writer of the Mad Monster Party screenplay) to attend, but he is not sure he can work it into his schedule. We are also expecting some Animagic figures to attend courtesy of Screen-Novelties. This will be a couple of Huge Halloween parties for the West Coast! The last time I appeared on the West Coast was at the Van Eaton Mad Monster Party Event in 2012, which was a big success! So we will be celebrating Mad Monster Party's 50th on the West Coast Mid-October with Shag and then taking that celebration (and hopefully a SHAG print) to the East Coast for CHILLER THEATRE in New Jersey, the weekend before Halloween!
This has been in the works for a long time and I am glad I can finally announce it! I was a bit worried last week, when The Shag Store in Palm Springs had a fire that damage was estimated at $100,000. I am happy to say that the store will be open and the event is set!
Looking forward to seeing my pal Josh Agle (SHAG) again! The last time we met up, it was in Chicago and all over town, including my home in Oak Lawn.
I think the MAD MONSTER PARTY print will look something like his wonderful H.R. Pufnstuf print! I am not sure if there will be additional merchandise with the art on it yet.
