FEEL THE ROAR AS THUNDERCATS CLAWS ITS WAY ONTO THE TELETOON RETRO SCHEDULE


Toronto – Lion-O, Snarf and Cheetara are loose on TELETOON Retro as ThunderCats joins the schedule from April 4 with a special 24-hour marathon. The beloved series originally debuted in 1985 and has not aired in Canada for over a decade.

Starting at 6 p.m., TELETOON Retro devotes 24 hours to ThunderCats with the first 24 episodes of the series scheduled in two 12 hour blocks. On Monday, April 5, ThunderCats officially joins the TELETOON Retro schedule in its regular slot, Mondays at 6 p.m. As of April 12, the show will also air at 7 a.m. and midnight every Monday.

A Rankin Bass Production, ThunderCats follows a band of band of half-human, half-feline creatures that flee from their home planet, Thundera. As the last few remaining members of the Thundercat species, the group, led by Lion-O, attempt to build a life on “Third Earth” after Thundera is destroyed. On their new planet, Lion-O, Cheetara, Panthro, Tygra, WilyKit, WilyKat, and Snarf encounter friendly Third Earth inhabitants such as the Ro-Bear Berbils, the Warrior Maidens and the Wallows. However, all is not peaceful on their new planet as the evil demon Mumm-Ra, regularly ventures from his home, the black pyramid, to try to destroy the Thundercats and steal the powerful Sword of Omens.

Utilizing a mix of technology, science fiction and fantasy, the series was created by Tobin Wolf and featured the voices talents of Earl Hammond, Larry Kenney, Earle Hyman, Lynne Lipton and Peter Newman.

TELETOON Retro has given a new home to animated favourites such as Bugs Bunny, The Smurfs and Scooby-Doo. Offering a nostalgic throwback to timeless cartoons, the channel delivers new laughs with familiar friends like Tom & Jerry, Rocky and Bullwinkle and Woody Woodpecker.
