A good friend of mine sent along these pictures from the SAN DIEGO COMICON this past weekend. I have been hearing many more complaints about this con as of late. I was there a few times many years ago and it was a fun, comic book related event! I got to hang out with Jack Kirby, Steve Rude, Jim Steranko, Patrick Owsley, etc. Now, it looks like it is about everything BUT comic books and great comic book artists. I am hearing it is so crowded that you can't even get down aisles? COMIC BOOKS have been going down hill for a long while now, so it doesn't surprise me that this event is too. Do you remember when you had to have talent and an art background, to do comic book art? Take a look at what is on comic book racks now.

THE LUCY SHOW

BRAVO to PARAMOUNT HOME VIDEO/CBS for putting out such a GREAT DVD set of THE LUCY SHOW...complete with cast commercials, brought to you bys, original animated openings and closings, etc. Wonderful stuff! I like the fact that they allow you to "SET UP" the vintage versions (As they did on the last season of I LOVE LUCY) and you can watch them as they first appeared. My friend Gary Matheson alerted me to the beautiful transfers of this series. BONUS material also includes interviews with Jimmy Garrett and Lucie Arnaz, vintage merchandise, flubs and clips from "Opening Night" special , which includes other CBS stars such as Andy Griffith. Very cool stuff!

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol

Here is one of the many MR. MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL items I have in my collection! Always enjoyed watching this special as a kid. It is too bad this special got kind of lost in the shuffel over the years.

RANKIN/BASS' THE OSMONDS

I have been watching THE OSMONDS on two discs and the transfers aren't great BUT it is so much fun watching the show again. I remember watching the series when it first aired. Donny said the group owed alot of their early success to RANKIN/BASS and this series.

CHEAP TRICK the latest

What a GREAT band and from Rockford, Illinois too! So glad these guys are still around with their original members and sounding great as ever! BEST BUY has their NEW cd on sale right now for $7.99! There is some GREAT stuff on here too! I especially like "Sick Man Of Europe." There is some classic stuff on here that sounds just as good as they did on "Surrender" and "I want you to want me" many years ago! Robin's voice sounds as good as ever! www.cheaptrick.com

MARSHALL CRENSHAW jaggedland

So happy to have MARSHALL'S long awaited follow up to 2003's WHAT'S IN THE BAG? JAGGEDLAND doesn't disappoint....Marshall never disappoints! He is definitely one of my favorite KINGS OF POP. On this CD he takes his unique chord changes to a new level. His voice sounds just as good as it did on his debut LP..nothing has changed. I am definitely going to catch up with him on September 25th in Skokie, IL. Marshall co-wrote UNTIL I HEAR IT FROM YOU with Robin Wilson and Jesse Valenzuela...maybe my favorite GIN BLOSSOMS song.

PEANUTS

As I watch the NEW 1960's PEANUTS DVD set....I think back to when my brother Chris and I were PEANUTS. These pictures were taken around the time that YOU'RE IN LOVE, CHARLIE BHROWN aired for the first time. I remember a few different PEANUTS shirts my brother and I had back then and my grandfather had a PEANUTS serving tray at his house.

I took this picture many years ago....just weeks before they told CLAYTON MOORE: THE LONE RANGER he could not wear his mask at appearances anymore. This is when lawyers and rights owners started messing with things they should not mess with! There is and always will be one LONE RANGER. This appearance was at LINCOLN MALL in MATTESON, IL.
