Elvis sings about....

AT&T (and I.B.E.W. Local 21) in this classic song....

With all of this talk about the Economy going in the right direction today....

I don't see REAL jobs with BENEFITS...meaning a pension and 401K being offered anymore. AT&T in particular started a NEW job title called SERVICE CONSULTANT at half the pay and no benefits (They also hire employees with half the brains as the old...so they can't resolve your issues when you call in...2-1/2 employees VS. the 1 quality employee of old) QUALITY JOBS are what are needed in the figures that are being thrown out there...not just "Jobs."

AT&T Starts Off 2012 with Job Cuts

January 6, 2012- AT&T announced today it plans to further reduce headcount by eliminating jobs held by members of IBEW Local Union 21. These jobs cuts result from AT&T’s 2011 decision to close two centers in downtown Chicago. They will offer Voluntary SIPP packages to other employees in our jurisdiction.

In Chicago two surpluses were declared. In the center at 10 S. Canal, AT&T is declaring seventy-eight (78) employees surplus. At the 311 S. Washington center, AT&T is declaring thirty-four (34) employee’s surplus. Employees affected at both of these locations are covered under the Surplus language contained in our current collective bargaining agreement.

In First Mile, C&E and I&M organizations, AT&T is offering Voluntary SIPP packages to over three hundred (300) employees. These employees are not being declared surplus. The SIPP offering is voluntary.

In First Mile, Voluntary SIPP packages are being offered to 8 Senior Plant Assigners in Hoffman Estates. One (1) Drafter and one (1) Administrative Specialist in Springfield can take the Voluntary SIPP offer.

AT&T will be offering Voluntary SIPP packages to the following employees. In Construction and Engineering (C&E), one hundred thirty-nine (139) Splicer’s and thirty-four (34) Outside Plant Technicians (OPT); and in Installation and Maintenance (I&M), one hundred thirty-nine (139) Customer System Technicians (CST). After all offers are returned, AT&T will then select which employees will be allowed to leave the payroll.

The Voluntary SIPP packages were distributed to all employees in these three organizations today. Employees must return their completed packages to management by 5pm on Monday February 6, 2012. Management will notify employees on February 10, 2012 if their SIPP was accepted. The off payroll date for those who are accepted will be February 17, 2012.

UNION I.B.E.W. Local 21

As a follow up to my horrible AT&T story...let me tell you a little bit about our union. What did the UNION I.B.E.W. LOCAL 21 do on my behalf of being terminated for sickness? Collected my dues for years and just mirrored back what the company was saying...right or wrong. I recently found out that a group of unjustly fired Senior employees from AT&T are trying to get a class action suit going against the union with a law firm that is primarily focusing on the building I used to work at located at 2401 W. Grace, Chicago, IL. What kind of response do we get when we call I.B.E.W. LOCAL 21 President Ronald Kastner in regards to our individual situations? silence. I will gladly join this class action suit. SILENT NIGHT....HOLY NIGHT...

Petitions seem to be the only way to get justice these days...PLEASE sign my WHITE HOUSE petition..

Dear friends,

I wanted to let you know about a new petition I created on We the People, anew feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support. Will you add your name to mine? If this petition gets 25,000 signatures by November 25, 2011,the White House will review it and respond!
We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.

You can view and sign the petition here:

http://www.wh.gov/Ty1

Here's some more information about this petition:

prevent large corporations like AT&T from firing senior employees (I was fired for sickness) to avoid pensions/health care!

Large corporations, such as AT&T, are getting rid of their senior employees by firing and making them leave for unjust reasons. I was fired, after 20+ years, for sickness and they turn around and say it was because 'I did not return during an unapproved absence.' All three of my doctors advised against going back to work and spoke with AT&T by phone and faxed medical documents. They claim they had no knowledge of my sickness. The driving force behind this is to avoid paying me a larger pension and health care as was negotiated in our union contract for my job title. Now they hire people under a different job title 'SERVICE CONSULTANT' with no pension and no benefits. IBEW LOCAL 21 went along with this under the guise of it saved jobs BUT it did not...it lowered the quality of jobs.

Wrote a NEWS story today about large companies..

That get rid of veteran employees NOT because of their job performance BUT because they don't want to pay pensions and benefits (and hire under new job titles with no benefits and half the pay). I wrote it for ABC WORLD NEWS and others. It includes interviews with employees with 20 + years. They didn't get to 20+ years by NOT doing a good job :)
