Lou talked about the song "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" being banned at some nutty radio station in San Francisco and in Canada????  I love talking about these nutty people on these radio shows.   They openly show they are not stable people and then brag about it.   The HUFF POST article about Rudolph was nothing more than "Click Bait"!   No credible people interviewed at all.

They used Antony's art in the 1964 and 1965 GE TV Guide ads

Regarding Tony's art in the ad, you will notice that Sam doesn't have a mustache or beard, as when Tony originally did the designs, Burl wasn't cast yet as Sam and Larry D. Mann performed the dialogue and songs.   Many people ask about Hermey's normal ears and long, blond curl....this was to differentiate him from all the other elves, as he was a misfit and unique.  Many people ask me about the bulb shaped noses of the regular elves.   Yes, this was to reflect a GE Light bulb shape.  Tony designed three Rankin/Bass Christmas carolers in Animagic for a GE Commercial that Rankin/Bass did a few years earlier (Photograph can be seen in my book The Making of the Rankin/Bass Holiday Classic:  Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer available at www.miserbros.com
) and you can clearly see they all have light bulb shape noses.  He continued this look for the 1964 productions of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.  Romeo Muller came up with the concept of all the additional characters and my late friend Antony Peters designed them.

Antony Peters, Co-Creator of all of the characters in Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

I have been doing a lot of interviews for radio, magazines, etc. this holiday season and I explain how Romeo Muller, Jr., writer of the TV Special created all of the characters in the classic, except for Rudolph and Santa Claus.   This is true, all of the concepts came from the pen of Romeo, but it was visualized by Antony Peters.  Antony and I became great friends before his passing.  He worked at Rankin/Bass Productions when it was known as Videocraft International in the late 1950s.   He always described himself to me as the art kid in the back room.   At any rate, he designed The New Adventures of Pinocchio and The Tales of the Wizard of Oz and the lettering style in the titles,   He even oversaw the animation on OZ at Crawley studios in Canada.   He came up with the original concept of Willy McBean & His Magic Machine and designed all of the characters in Rudolph, which was his last project at Rankin/Bass Productions.  It is his lettering style that was used in the titles (I like the original end titles from 1964 best, which we have now in color).  Tony was a talented artist and designer and we can thank him for the look of the Animagic characters!
