Watching RARE H-B tonight...

I watched THE WORLD OF SECRET SQUIRREL & ATOM ANT and THE WORLD: COLOR IT HAPPY. Two RARE HANNA-BARBERA one hour specials that I have my pal Scott Jeralds to Thank! I have had these specials for a long while BUT haven't watched them in a few years. Love seeing BILL & JOE in animation form and LIVE ACTION. This JOE cel is from the RARE un-aired COLOR IT HAPPY special, which was an ADULT version of THE BANANA SPLITS that has live-action and animated segments, including WOODY ALLEN doing a neat Spy spoof. Cool stuff!

PAUL COKER, JR. comic strip

Here is an interesting cartoon strip that PAUL COKER did with Don Edwing in 1971 called HORACE & BUGGY. It was in an article I am reading called PAUL COKER: MAD-MAN FOR ALL SEASONS.

KNIXIES from RANKIN/BASS!

From TV's THE NEW ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO

Another TV GUIDE mention from Frank DeCaro

Jeff MacNelly February 16, 1990 meeting...

Here are a few more pics my pal Patrick Owsley took back in 1990 of multiple pulitzer prize winning editorial cartoonist and creator of SHOE...the late Jeff MacNelly. We met him at the ANIMATION PLUS GALLERY in Chicago. He was THE BEST editorial cartoonist to ever live. He looked over a bunch of Editorial cartoons I was doing for THE REPORTER NEWSPAPERS at the time and immediately noticed the Jack Davis influence. He drew the GEORGE BUSH pictured here for me. A very memorable meeting in my life.

RANKIN/BASS TV GUIDE article...when TV GUIDE was read by millions...

Click pictures to enlarge to read. Frank DeCaro wrote this article back in 1999 and when it came out in the magazine, we got over 10,000 hits at www.rankinbass.com in a week! Frank and I became friends over the years and he wrote several more articles about RANKIN/BASS for TV GUIDE (I will post a few more soon) and I appeared on his New York Radio show a few years back. We had mutual friends in ALEX ROSS and I met him at one of Alex's Halloween parties, which Frank wrote a New York Times article about and mentioned me as THE GREEN HORNET. I remember when Frank interviewed JULES BASS...he said, "He must live right around the block from me. I heard an ambulance drive past my building and then I heard it in the background when I was talking to him on the phone."

THE ARTISTS

Here are some pictures of us that PATRICK OWSLEY took back in 1986 or '87 when we were known as THE ARTISTS at J.R. POOGIES' I believe. We were essentially a tribute band of THE POLICE (To get the bookings) and then we played tons of original songs. Keith Porlier played bass guitar and Jim Jilek played drums. I went to college by day and played clubs by night....didn't sleep much.

The GE RANKIN/BASS Elves!

Here is my GE ELVES collection from MEMORY LANE. The RANKIN/BASS commercials were some of the coolest things they ever did and I love grouping these figures together to display.
