RANKIN/BASS' THE NEW ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO

c. 2001 RANKIN/BASS PRODUCTIONS/RICK GOLDSCHMIDT ARCHIVES

I have PINOCCHIO on DVD and CD!  One of my favorite RANKIN/BASS (VIDEO CRAFTS/VIDEOCRAFT INTERNATIONAL) PRODUCTIONS...their first in ANIMAGIC!

Yet another unacceptable response from PALERMO'S 95th FINE (not so fine) ITALIAN CUISINE & BANQUETS

Mr. Goldschmidt that ad you refer to was a misprint that was on our pizza for literally one hour until we caught the mistake and pulled it. We would have happily honored it if you produced the ad or even contacted a manager. Your decision to leave the pizza on the counter and walk away left us no opportunity to rectify the situation. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Since when does the customer come last?  I have never seen such a blatant display of disrespect for a customer.   Someone said that WORD OF MOUTH is 10x more powerful than regular advertising.  This could have all been avoided by treating the customer right.  They still want to explain why they were right and I was wrong????????????????

Lousy customer treatment after years of customer loyalty at PALERMO'S 95th FINE ITALIAN CUISINE and BANQUETS in Oak Lawn, Illinois - Pizza

Dear Mr. Goldschmidt,

We are sorry to hear about your experience here on Wednesday night. As a loyal customer you realize it is not our intention to make ordering from us difficult. Our resent Monday and Wednesday promotion is priced on the premise of purchasing a pizza on the weekend at full price. The coupons are only attached to the pizza on those subsequent days, therefore we request that the coupon is presented to validate that the requirements have been met. The telephone operators are instructed to remind the customer to bring the coupon in for validation and it is clearly stated on the coupon itself. As with any business promotion there are requirements to be met by the consumer, such as bring the coupon in, to receive the correct discount. I have attached a copy of the coupon to verify this consumer agreement. We regret that you will no longer be dinning with us and hope that you understand our position.

Sincerely,

James Heniff
Director of Operations

I have literally bought hundreds of Pizzas at PALERMO'S over the years and with this attitude..I say BOYCOTT a place that does little to put the customer first and does little to do anything to correct the situation.  Notice that the flyer I was given makes no mention of anything James says it did.  In fact, I know they changed their policy and offer midstream without notifying the customer and still hold the customer responsible?

DICK BEALS

Dick Beals and I became quite good friends over the years.  We had very long conversations about his work and even discovered that he was the singing voice for RANKIN/BASS' THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY (1968) Aaron.  His book THINK BIG, was a very detailed account of his life BUT he forgot about working on THE LITTLE DRUMMER BOY.  He was so proud of the fact that he did SPEEDY's voice for so many years.  I grew up hearing Dick's voice in THE FUNNY COMPANY.  He loved to talk about that and do the voices for me as well.

Dick was hired to do the PEANUTS voices until Charles Schulz found out that he wasn't a real kid.  Dick did Supervise the 4th or 5th special and received screen credit.  He loved working for Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera.  He was the voice of Buzz Conroy in FRANKENSTEIN JR. AND THE IMPOSSIBLES and many of the kids featured in THE JETSONS, THE FLINTSTONES, etc.  In fact, he played one of the elves in the Christmas episode of THE FLINSTONES (I think it was Winky).

To me, he was one of the greater voice actors in animation.  You could always tell it was his voice and he really brought life to the characters he voiced.

DICK BEALS R.I.P.

My friend Patrick Owsley told me DICK BEALS passed away at age 85.  Dick was always a helpful friend and he will be missed!

THE MAN OF STEEL

We all love SUPERMAN....except for that putrid looking thing that they filmed in Illinois recently.  Instead of Hollywood getting better with each film they make...they progressively get worse!
