HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MAURY LAWS!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dear friend MAURY LAWS! 88 years young! I REALLY enjoyed writing the MAURY LAWS chapter in my NEW book and celebrating his unique work in MAD MONSTER PARTY. He has been so helpful to me over the years and it is nice to meet up occasionally for the holidays in Chicago. We did a nice audio interview some years back for THE DAYDREAMER soundtrack CD too!

He wrote this to me yesterday:

I'm doing some appearances here and there. I'm doing a 'signing' at a music store in Madison this Saturday and again here in Appleton next Week. Also a lecture about my work on Rudolph at an art museum here on the 15th. It keeps going on and on.

I am tired just thinking about it :) You can read more on this musical legend at www.maurylaws.com

Put a RANKIN/BASS' MAD MONSTER PARTY book under your tree www.miserbros.com

http://www.miserbros.com/ HARD COVER or SOFT COVER...I will sign and draw a character in your book for a personalized gift! You can get it in a BUNDLE with a T-SHIRT and POSTER (on high quality water color paper) too!

I get asked many times during the Holidays...How did you get into this world of RANKIN/BASS? I loved the work of JACK DAVIS and would talk to him occasionally...my degree is in Illustration and I was starting to do some freelance cartooning out of college. I loved the feature film MAD MONSTER PARTY and knew Jack designed it, so I asked him what happened to Arthur and Jules? I had never read much about them. Jack was still doing work for RANKIN/BASS and put me in touch with PAUL COKER, JR. and the rest is history. I couldn't wait to get a book done on RANKIN/BASS' MAD MONSTER PARTY and showcase the work of JACK DAVIS.
