Jangle

My late friend Bradley Bolke voiced Jangle Bells. We appeared together at Chiller Theatre in New Jersey a few times. Bradley signed a limited amount of Jangle photos for www.miserbros.com, which have since sold out. He loved getting checks from us, as it reminded him of his voice actor royalties. His brother was the late Dayton Allen, who was also a voice actor for such characters as Deputy Dawg and appeared on The Howdy Doody Show.

Jangle bells

Bradley R.I.P.

My dear friend Bradley Bolke passed away today at 93.  You may know him as the voice of Chumley in Tennessee Tuxedo and his tales or Jangle Bells in The Year Without A Santa Claus.  He did many voices such as the ghostly trio in Casper and Norman and Dracula in Rankin/Bass' Mad, Mad, Mad Monsters.  He appeared with me at the museum of television and radio in New York in 2003 and at a few Chiller Theatres.  We were lucky to get him in our Rankin/Bass documentary "We are Santa's Elves" for the Year Without A Santa Claus blu ray and he has contributed to my books.  His brother was Dayton Allen (Deputy Dawg, The Howdy Doody Show).  We will miss him!  Glad I was able to help him out a little in his later years  #bradleybolke #chumley #janglebells #rankinbass #theyearwithoutasantaclaus #madmadmadmonsters

Many more Great guests added to the CHILLER THEATRE lineup!

My pal Brad is coming!   He was with us at the Museum of Television & Radio in New York in 2003!  He also appeared in our documentary on THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS blu ray!   I will have some great JINGLE BELLS & JANGLE BELLS prints there (Right off of the transparencies) that he can sign there!  Hopefully our friend Rhoda Mann can make it!  She was Mother Nature in THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS and an original HOWDY DOODY Puppeteer!  It is cool that CHUMLEY and MR. WHOOPEE (Larry Storch) will both be there on Saturday!

Big Munsters fan, so it will be great to finally meet Butch!   I watch The Monkees Christmas episode every Christmas and Butch is great in that too!

BRADLEY BOLKE

My dear friend Brad Bolke called me today to wish me well! Brad was the voice of Jangle Bells in RANKIN/BASS' THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS, CHUMLEY THE WALRUS, etc. We talked about many things including Howard Stern's father Ben recording the cast of Tennessee Tuxedo at 152 W. 52nd. He said he did all of his RANKIN/BASS recordings there as well. Brad's brother was the late, great Dayton Allen (Deputy Dawg, Howdy Doody show, The Steve Allen Show, Winky Dink, etc.). He said his brother appeared in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in 1951 or 1952 as Ugly Sam and froze his #@*% off! I didn't know Brad did the voice of Grouicho Marx for the Plymoth De Soto animated commercials/promos. He brought up the DVD below that my friend Patrick Owsley did the cover art for....He said, "Patrick's art should be featured in a TOTAL TELEVISION book!" Brad appeared with us at the MUSEUM OF TELEVISION and RADIO in New York a few years back and can be seen in the documentary on the new YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS BLU RAY. He mentioned that he is still trying to get the smell out of his television set from the live action version he saw a few years back.
