Phyllis McGinley

Here is a great picture of Pulitzer Prize winning author Phyllis McGinley!   This picture appears in a great book by my friend Tim Hollis called CHRISTMAS WISHES:  A Catalog of Vintage Holiday Treats and Treasures, which I Highly Recommend.   I re-watched the documentary that I organized on the blu ray of Rankin/Bass' The Year Without A Santa Claus and after not seeing it for many years, was impressed with how that documentary turned out.   Arthur Rankin talked about Phyllis' book and how it was the germ of the story to the special, but as in other Rankin/Bass specials, Writer Romeo Muller expanded the story greatly to include the Heat Miser and Snow Miser, among many other characters and story lines.  I had never seen a photograph of Phyllis until this one and thought I would share it.
