Some were asking about the remaining cast of Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer that are still with us. Alfie Scopp (Charlie-in-the box, fireball) at 102, Corrine Conley (Misfit girl doll) at 92 and Carl Banas at 92 (Foreman elf, spotted elephant). My good pal Bill Giles, who was the sound engineer on the sessions, is still with us too. Corrine did an interview for a 20/20 thing we helped with a few years back and Bill and I did an NPR interview. #Rankinbassproductions #Rudolphtherednosedreindeer

ALFIE SCOPP
C. 2001 Miser Bros Press/Rick Goldschmidt Archives Alfie Scopp, seen all the way to the right of Larry D. Mann, and voice of Charlie-In-The-Box is still living today at age 95 in Canada. Bill Giles told me that he was very close friends with Robert Goulet, and they would play cards in the studio frequently. I believe this is how Arthur met Goulet and would hire him to sing THE DAYDREAMER in 1966

RANKIN/BASS' RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER
The RANKIN/BASS' RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER cast reading from their scripts. This is an alternate shot to the one that GENERAL ELECTRIC used at the close of the special the first few years it aired. To see that picture and the entire original script, pick up my book THE MAKING OF THE RANKIN/BASS HOLIDAY CLASSIC: RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER (Which is also available on KINDLE via AMAZON)
