James Dean, the lost television legacy

This 3 disc set has all of the surviving television material, introduced by my pal Marcus Winslow (Jimmy's cousin) and there was some restoration done to the material.  His television work was diverse and great fun to watch!

 

A LIFE WITH FATHER episode from 1951 featuring Martin Milner and a very young Sheila James (The many loves of Dobie Gillis).  This was Jimmy's 2nd TV appearance and it was filmed, just before he left the West Coast for New York.

So sorry to hear about Martin Milner's passing.  One of my favorite actors and good in so many things.   I believe he was one of the first actors to act with James Dean on television.  Also one of the few to have two very successful series on television.  A great!

As I have been watching season 3, I reread about George Maharis' departure from the series and Glenn Corbett's entry (In my bound TV GUIDE volumes) and it was very interesting. Maharis' had infectious hepatitis and needed to rest and recover and the Producers decided to replace him. The series definitely suffered from this decision.

This came today!

...and it is Excellent! My favorite season of the series! I just watched a great episode with Buster Keation, Joe E. Brown and John Astin! This season featured the episodes that were shot in Chicago at the Art Institute, Buckingham fountain, etc. It also features the episode with Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre and Lon Chaney, Jr. in Chicago. This was the season that Buz Murdock (George Maharis) departed (BIG mistake by the Producers caused this) and Lincoln Case (Glenn Corbett) arrived. The season also features guest stars Ron Howard, Dick York, Julie Newmar, Alan Alda, etc. This is when TV was made with quality!

Historic ROUTE 66

Dennis and I recently found ourselves on the historic ROUTE 66. I was TOD STILES to his BUZ MURDOCK as we listened to the Nelson Riddle theme as we cruised along.

ADAM-12

MARTIN MILNER

I loved the television show ADAM-12 growing up and I still love it! My kids love it too. My Dad always said ADAM-12 was the closest TV show to the work that he did as a Police officer. I recently learned that ADAM-12 was one of Kurt Cobain's favorites too. The second season DVD set is awesome and even has an episode with guest star David Cassidy. Martin Milner was also GREAT in ROUTE 66 and was the first actor to appear on a television screen with the legendary JAMES DEAN.
