We saw the film last night and most of the reviews I read before were right. I thought the first film was a perfect film in many ways. If you go into this one not expecting it to be as good as or better than the first...you will be alright. Most reviews have given it 2-1/2 to 3 stars and I think that is fair....it doesn't make it a bad film...it is another chapter in the world of IRON MAN. The film probably would have been better, if it focused on the heart and relationship between Tony Stark and Pepper Potts and was less crowded BUT Tony and Pepper are still the likeable, well played characters in this one, with a bit too much going on. I like that they brought even more things into it from the original comic books such as Happy Hogan, Stark's suitcase complete with costume and his race driving skills. Director Favreau (ELF, SWINGERS) also attempted to bring in some heart with Tony's relationship with his departed father and the fact that Tony wasn't well during most of the film. The first film had such a strong villian base and several fun elements that this film was missing, that the comparison is not a good one BUT like I said, another chapter and they know what to shoot for in 3.
