15th ANNIVERSARY EDITION of THE ENCHANTED WORLD
OF RANKIN/BASS: A PORTFOLIO PRESS
RELEASE 11-2012
“When I set out
writing THE ENCHANTED WORLD OF RANKIN/BASS:
A PORTFOLIO, there had been nothing written about the great Producers
ARTHUR RANKIN, JR. and JULES BASS.
After several years of putting the book together, Arthur and Jules went
through the material and blue line proofs and we had a book that they were very
happy with,” says Rick Goldschmidt.
In 2012, this
book has been taken to a new level of quality, under the guidance of Arthur
Rankin, Jr.. Fifteen years of
RANKIN/BASS material has been packed into the new 296 page book, many pages in
color and beautifully designed by Wes Garlatz.
If you liked the first edition of the book, you will love this edition
even more!
“When I wrote
the original book, I put a message in the book, that if anyone has anything
that wasn’t in the book, please share it and many did! Most notably Dale Dunajtsik, Gary Matheson
and some wonderful 11th hour photographs from John Ellis. When I set out to do the original book, it
was a huge undertaking that involved going to collectible shows and making lots
of phone calls. The internet was in
it’s infancy in the 1990’s. Since then,
I have collected hundreds of photographs, model sheets, collectibles and
more. In the 15th
Anniversary edition, we also covered many of the collectibles that came out
during the original run of the specials and series (which were limited) and the
hundreds (if not thousands) of items that were released after my original
book.”
RANKIN/BASS
PRODUCTIONS began holiday traditions with their classic TV Specials that are a
tremendous part of the holidays for so many people. Through intelligent writing, heart, warmth, beautiful
designs, wonderful music, etc., they
continue to touch generation after generation.
“After writing
books about how the specials were created with my books THE MAKING OF THE
RANKIN/BASS HOLIDAY CLASSIC: RUDOLPH
THE RED-NOSED REINDEER and RANKIN/BASS’ MAD MONSTER PARTY, I wanted to go back
to celebrating all of the works of RANKIN/BASS PRODUCTIONS and I couldn’t think
of a better way to do it, than with the new book! I didn’t want to settle for what I have done in the past, I
wanted to create a book that was spectacular (Many of the original RANKIN/BASS
specials were described as a TV Spectacular)!
Something that people would be ‘wowed’ with! Of course, I needed lots of help in achieving this and Arthur
Rankin and Wes Garlatz were there for me.
We have included an art section with wonderful art by my friends Patrick
Owsley, Jim Engel, Matt Pott, Chris Mason and many, many more! It is packed with material and a sensational
value!,” says Rick Goldschmidt.
