Hi, I am a librarian at the State Library of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. In our collection are the papers of P.L. Travers, Australian author of Mary Poppins. In the collection are several Rankin/Bass film treatments for Jack Frost, written by Travers. They date from around 1972. I was wondering if you knew anything about the Travers / Rankin-Bass connection. Clearly her version wasn't made, but I was wondering if this is widely known?Rick Goldschmidt: Yes, her treatments were made for the series The Enchanted World of Danny Kaye, which wasn't picked up by ABC, and only one episode, The Emperor's New Clothes, was made. Arthur Rankin, Jr. mentions that "Mary Poppins lady P.L. Travers in the documentary film from 1972, that I show at all of my presentations, with Jack Davis Presentation art. Punch & Judy with Jerry Lewis and Carol Burnett was to be the next episode on the list, as the Animagic figures and set were created. Jack Frost was ultimately developed into a Rankin/Bass TV special written by Romeo Muller, Jr. in 1979. #pltravers #jackfrost #Rankinbass #marypoppins
