Theodore Bikel passed away this week at age 91.  He appeared in two Rankin/Bass TV Specials:  The Stingiest Man In Town and Return Of The King.

Christmas in July! 50 years ago, RANKIN/BASS PRODUCTIONS (VIDEOCRAFT INTERNATIONAL, LIMITED), were very busy making changes to their landmark TV Special RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, due to Willard H. Sahloff's (Vice President at General Electric and former Montgomery Ward's merchandising executive) request. Some scenes, such as the ending, were never to air again on network televsion. A new scene and song were shot and recorded, called "Fame & Fortune," among many other changes detailed in my book:
