PACKAGING

Two products I am not wild about BUT love the packaging!

I have been watching this series on DVD from POST CEREALS!

RANKIN/BASS' THE ENCHANTED WORLD OF DANNY KAYE: THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES (1972)

I re-watched RANKIN/BASS' THE ENCHANTED WORLD OF DANNY KAYE: THE EMPEROR'S NEW CLOTHES and I must say the ANIMAGIC is Excellent as is Danny Kaye's performance. Arthur Rankin was great friends with Danny and this was going to launch a series. There is a wonderful original documentary on the DVD made by ARTHUR RANKIN and JULES BASS in 1972 with behind the scenes footage of the Animators in the studio and narrated by Danny and Arthur. It also features Jack Davis' artwork for the series.

featured in my 15th ANNIVERSARY BOOK, this was their highest rated TV special leading into the 1970 ACADEMY AWARDS SHOW. It features the voices of Groucho Marx, Jack Benny, George Burns, George Jessel, Flip Wilson, Phyllis Diller, etc.

JACK E. LEONARD

Comedian JACK E. LEONARD has always been a favorite of mine! He worked for RANKIN/BASS in THE MAD, MAD, MAD, COMEDIANS (1970), which was their highest rated special leading into the 1970 ACADEMY AWARDS SHOW. I included a chapter on THE MAD, MAD, MAD COMEDIANS in my 15th ANNIVERSARY EDITION of THE ENCHANTED WORLD OF RANKIN/BASS: A PORTFOLIO book and I have it on DVD too :)

Still enjoying the heck out of these :)

RANKIN/BASS' THE JACKSON FIVE SHOW

Thanks to Mike G. for the J5 DVD set! I like the fact that the ratio of the DVD is set to flat screen as originally broadcast. There are no extras and the packaging is very minimal BUT am glad to finally see it released.
