RANKIN/BASS' THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS BLU RAY

c. 1974 RANKIN/BASS PRODUCTIONS/RICK GOLDSCHMIDT ARCHIVES

JINGLE & JANGLE BELLS voiced by my friends the late Bob McFadden and Bradley Bolke

MOTHER NATURE (Rhoda Mann) with her boys

I watched the BLU RAY tonight and THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS may be the only RANKIN/BASS special to be released in true HD. The rest of the content on the disc is remastered but not in HD including NESTOR, THE LONG-EARED DONKEY and RUDOLPH'S SHINY NEW YEAR. I like the fact that WB does feature the special in true flat ratio without adjustment (The picture is square as it appeared on TV when it originally aired). It looks great and so does the rest of the disc.
There is a 2010 edition of Phyllis McGinley's 1957 book at www.amazon.com I wasn't aware of the fact that Ms. McGinley passed away in 1978. I am sure she was aware and excited to see the story brought to television by RANKIN/BASS!

My friend Rich Koz will be all over town this month including SIX FLAGS on October 15th!

Halloween DVD candy!

support www.preservehollywood.org It was cool to see my pal Dan Roebuck and his collection on this DVD! I tried to make it over to his place during my recent West Coast trip BUT ran out of time...

RANKIN/BASS BLU RAY debut!

RANKIN/BASS BLU RAY debut today and the BEST of 2010! I am sure this will be converted to the best HD picture possible (Unlike some of the other R/B titles) and it includes a RANKIN/BASS documentary we made with SPARKHILL a few years back! You get to see PAUL COKER, JR. in his home with some of his R/B drawings, ARTHUR RANKIN, JR., DON DUGA, RHODA MANN, BRADLEY BOLKE, MAURY LAWS, etc.

LA INK on TLC

My pal Robin Wilson is on THE LEARNING CHANNEL's LA INK tomorrow night getting a tattoo designed by my pal Mitch O' Connell!

My pal Lil' Ron Murphy sent these over tonight!

Ironically, I watched these commercials tonight...I have a really good quality DVD of them.

One of my favorite ad characters!
I have these! I have the commercial too.
www.preservehollywood.org watched the rest of the AURORA MODEL DVD last night and many cool things including JAMES BAMA!

I got a cool package in the mail from Cortlandt Hull today! I didn't realize he was a relative of the great Henry Hull (WEREWOLF OF LONDON). I am more than half way through his THE AURORA MODELS: THE MONSTER CRAZE THAT GRIPPED THE WORLD and love all of the cool graphics and insight to the AURORA history! visit www.preservehollywood.org to order your copy!

RANKIN/BASS' MAD MONSTER PARTY DVD

I talked about this last year...when it came out BUT for some of the NEW visitors to my blog...this is definitely the version of RANKIN/BASS' MAD MONSTER PARTY that you will want to pick up! This version has 3 different documentaries and luckily we were able to interview the great ALLEN SWIFT, before he passed away and he even did a few of the voices. SCREEN-NOVELTIES gives a great demonstration of STOP-MOTION and Maury Laws talks about his swingin' music!

50 years ago tonight...

my favorite TV series...THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW premiered on CBS! I saw THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW HALLMARK ornament in a store today too!

Here is a cool deck my friend SHAG gave me! I talked to my friend JOHN McGUIRE from FOUNDATION SKATEBOARDS tonight and we brain stormed on some deck ideas. Enjoyed our talk!
I love these custom FENDER TELECASTERS that my pal SHAG painted!
